Why do Essential Oils Marked with Same Name Smell Different

I am often asked why an oil may smell different from the oil they have at home.  The answer is that essential oils are natural products, so their aroma can vary depending on where the plant was grown, the climate, harvest timing, and even the distillation process. Lavender from one region may smell slightly different than Lavender from another, and even oils from the same company can change from batch to batch — much like wine vintages.

But here’s the key point: a difference in scent does not mean a difference in purity or quality. Even when oils smell a little different, they are still 100% pure essential oils. These variations are simply nature’s fingerprint, and they’re part of what makes each bottle unique and authentic.  The important thing is always to make sure your oil is marked 100% pure essential oil.
